TRENDS JULY 2016 20 CompositesWorld The Architectural Division of the American Composites Manufacturers Assn. (ACMA, Arlington, VA, US) again orga- nized an eye-catching Composites Pavilion to educate the architecture, engineering and construction communities at the 2016 American Institute of Architects (AIA, Washington, DC, US) Convention (May 19-21, Philadelphia, PA, US). This year's Pavilion featured a number of frsts: For one, ACMA had copies available of its recently published Guidelines and Recommended Practices for Fiber-Reinforced- Polymer (FRP) Architectural Products. Although ACMA's Architectural Div. and architectural composites pioneers, such as Bill Kreysler, president, Kreysler & Associates (American Canyon, CA, US), have been educating the architecture and construction communities about compos- ites for years and are seeing growing interest and some applications, the Guidelines are expected to stimulate increased use. "One of the limiting factors has been a lack of widespread knowledge about what FRP is good for, how to design with it, and how to build with it," Kreysler notes on the Compositesandarchitecture.com Web site. "The new ACMA Composites Guidelines are an enormous step towards removing these barriers and clearly explain what ACMA's Composites Pavilion expands awareness at AIA show ARCHITECTURE Walton Process Technologies, Inc.
