BIZ BRIEFS Huber Carbonates LLC (Atlanta, GA, US), a subsidiary of J.M. Huber Corp., recently announced a substantial increase in capacity at its ground calcium carbonate (GCC) operation in Marble Hill, GA. Huber's industrial GCC products are used in a variety of consumer and industrial applica- tions that include thermoset composites, thermoplastics, cultured marble, adhesives and sealants. "Huber has a long-term, multi-stage plan to increase capacity in ground calcium carbonate, driven by customer demand and new product sales," says Matt O'Brien, VP and general manager of Huber's GCC business. The expansion, coupled with the recent expansion of Hu- ber's Quincy, IL, US GCC facility, is targeted for completion in 2016. Source | Huber Corp. SABIC (Pittsfeld, MA, US) is merging its US-based technology and innovation operations, which are now separately located at its Pittsfeld, MA; Exton, PA; and Selkirk, NY locations. Consolidation of the three R&D; operations at the Sel- kirk plant will take place as soon as the necessary modifcations to the Selkirk fa- cilities are completed, now estimated to be some time in 2017. At that time, SABIC will exit its Pittsfeld Polymer Processing Development Center and close its Exton site. "This integration will not only drive important efciencies, it will also merge material science, process engineering and application development into a collaborative environment that will lead to new innovation breakthroughs," says Awadh Al-Maker, executive VP, SABIC Technology & Innovation, for its engineering thermoplastic resins and compounds and applications. 25 CompositesWorld.com NEWS N E W S N S N E W S E N W S W Cytec Solvay's Applications Centre . 25 TON CRANE Facilities & Equipment for Parts & Tooling 154K sq ft facilities Large scale projects Unsurpassed in precision Certifed technicians Dedicated Continuous Improvement www.janicki.com | 360.856.5143 w . j a n i c k i . c o m | 3 6 0 . 8 5 6 FORMING PRESS N E m e n t l i n g t i e s e c t s p r e c i s i o n c i a n s n u o u s 5 1 4 3 2 5 T O N C R A N j i k i | 3 6 0 8 5 6 F O R M I N G P R E S S LARGE SCALE, HIGH PRECISION 5-AXIS NC MILLING p v e m e n t w w w AUTOCLAVE
